Let’s get away from all of the posts about suicide for a while. Not that they weren’t popular. You guys set the record in views Tuesday with 120, and then doubled it the next day. But we need to move on. I do have ONE other blog I’ve written on the matter, but I don’t think any of us are ready to talk about social hypocrisy right now. Maybe next week.
I’ve been told several times that I need to be a journalist. This is an interesting concept, but I’m just not sure it’s for me. The idea of prying into a person or organization’s private matters… well, I think I’m just too nice for it. You’re looking at a person who hates when people gives him money for crying out loud. I prefer to think of myself as simply a writer. I love to give my logical and well thought out opinions on matters that are important to everyday life. A columnist? Sure. A journalist. Nah.
And that’s where the difference between me writing blogs and writing a book really comes through. It’s not easy, but I’m able to harness those life-inspired emotions and weave them into my book. The only trick now is to artistically and realistically incorporate those into the narrative. I feel I am doing that. That’s why I think it’ll be such a success when I finish.
But that’s neither here nor there. The point is that there are many places I can take my writing besides in the gritty realms of planet Earth. Is journalism where this writing really needs to go? If so, please, continue to suggest it until I get it through my think skull. If not, well… you know.
I don’t think I’ll pursue journalism. I think God has given me other things to work on…
